Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on September 28, 2025.

We at Gigi's Joyful Canvas are working to make our site Gigi's Joyful Canvas and www.gigisjoyfulcanvas.com accessible to people with disabilities.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Gigi's Joyful Canvas is continually working to upgrade our conformance and aims to be conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not fully conform to the accessibility standard. As part of this effort, we have also :

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site

  • Set the content order of the site’s pages

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages

  • Added alternative text to images

  • Implemented color combinations that meet the required color contrast

  • Reduced the use of motion on the site

  • Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible

Website Features and Services

Our website, which offers public and private paint parties, original paintings, private lessons, and online painting tutorials and courses, strives to provide the following accessible features:

•Alternative Text for Images: Images on our website will include alternative text for users with screen readers.

•Captions and Transcripts: Videos for online painting tutorials and courses include captions and, where appropriate, transcripts.

•High Contrast and Legible Fonts: We will use high-contrast text and legible fonts to improve readability.

•Keyboard Navigation: Our website is designed to be navigable using a keyboard alone.

•Clear and Consistent Layout: We maintain a consistent and predictable layout to aid navigation.

Online Painting Tutorials and Courses

For our online painting tutorials and courses, we aim to provide:

•Accessible Platform: We strive to use platforms that are accessible for users with screen-reading software.

•Accommodation Requests: Students can request accommodations, such as real-time captioning through our contact information.

•Verbal Descriptions: Instructors will provide clear verbal descriptions of visual aids, graphics, and instructions during lessons.

In-Person Events (Public and Private Paint Parties, Private Lessons)

For our in-person events, which are hosted at public restaurants, churches, businesses, community centers, and private homes (as we do not own our own studio), we will consider the following:

•Accommodation Requests: Participants can request accommodations related to disabilities or to make their experience easier through the registration form or by contacting us directly.

•Venue Policies: Policies regarding service animals and the availability of sensory spaces are subject to the discretion and policies of the individual venues where our events are held. We encourage participants to contact us in advance with specific concerns, and we will do our best to coordinate with the venue.

•Physical Environment: We will strive to ensure our physical spaces are accessible, including considerations for mobility and clear pathways, in coordination with the venues where events are held.
